Terms and Conditions

Our fundamental operating principal is mutual respect, that is Escape Campers will respect a customers wishes where it is reasonable to do so, but also expect that customers will respect Escape Campers operating procedures and personel, and that all business will be carried out in an air of mutual respect.

1. Hire Rates
The van rental prices quoted include:
You mileage is unlimited and this includes free mileage – up to 500 miles. Additional miles charged at calculated at 22p/mile this is to cover additional servicing cost.
Comprehensive vehicle insurance in the UK only (excluding Northern Ireland);
Roadside assistance and breakdown cover in the UK only (excluding Northern Ireland).

2. Insurance
a)Excess Charge
There is standard excess charge of £500. This means that the hirer will be liable to pay the first £500 of any claim for damage to either the vehicle or third party property. The hirer will also be liable for replacement or repair of windscreen and tyre damage.
b) Insurance Loading
Escape Campers may incur additional charges if a driver either has a traffic conviction, a non-UK driving license or an occupation which is deemed to be high risk by our insurers. These charges will be passed directly to customers.
c)Fire Damage
The hire insurance does not cover the vehicle in the event of a fire caused by heating or cooking, all responsibility for fire damage caused by these activities is the sole responsibility of the hirer.

3. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
CDW at £15.00 per day will reduce the excess for any damage caused in a collision to either the vehicle or third party property to £0. The hirer will however be fully liable for replacement or repair to windscreen or tyre damage. This applies in respect of each claim, not rental. Please note that Collision Damage Waiver Insurance is optional and decided upon on collection of the vehicle, collision damage waiver only covers the driver for collisions, not for other damages or loss, including (but not limited to) theft, loss, vandalism and malicious damage.

4. Security Deposit
There is a refundable pound sterling security deposit of £350. This must be paid to cover the possibility of negligent damage to the vehicle or the fixtures and fittings therein or equipment included in the rental. This deposit is payable by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card (via the paypal.co.uk online system). This deposit is fully refundable upon return of the vehicle as stated in the rental agreement, with the interior clean (including all cooking appliances) and a full tank of unleaded petrol.

5. Travel in Europe & Northern Ireland
Not permitted.

6. Bedding and Towels
The inventory includes a fitted sheet for the Rock 'n Roll Bed only. The inventory does not include bedding. Bedding (duvet and pillows, sleeping bags) and towels may be supplied at a cost of £15.00 per person.

7. Minimum Hire Period
Three days during the low season and six (6) days during the peaks season, subject to availability.

8. Driver Qualification
a) Drivers must have held a license valid in the U.K. for more than two years
b) A valid driver's license must be presented by all drivers at the start of the hire period
c) Drivers must also provide two further separate forms of identification (e.g. Utility bill & passport)
d) A maximum of 3 drivers per rental is permissible.
e) A maximum of 6 penalty points is allowable, drivers convicted of drunk driving cannot drive our vehicles.

10. Payment
A ‘non-refundable’ deposit of £100.00 is payable to confirm a booking. A booking is not confirmed until funds have cleared into our bank account or cash has been received. The balance of any rental payment is due four weeks (28 days) before the rental start date. A booking made less than four weeks before the start date must be paid in full immediately by credit or debit card via paypal.co.uk or bank transfer. Cheques for payment of late bookings must clear in our account before confirmation of the booking is given.

11. Complaints
All reasonable complaints about significant issues we receive are thoroughly investigated (Escape Campers regard reasonable cleanliness, Safety and Mechanical Reliability as significant) and customers are kept informed at each stage of the investigation. In order to bring matters to the attention of us at the earliest possible opportunity you should raise any matter that relates directly to your van as it arises so that matters can be dealt with there and then. Complaints should be intimated to Escape Campers as soon as possible to give us the opportunity to correct any deficiency. Should the matter remain unresolved after a reasonable time has been allowed for action, you should report the matter to us without delay and confirm the same in writing as soon as possible thereafter. We would consider 28 days to be a reasonable time to confirm the complaint to us and in the event of the complaint not being intimated in time, this may impede the future investigation and could affect your entitlement to compensation.

12. Cancellation Charges
More than 28 days before the rental start date: £100.00
Between 14 days and up to 28 days before the rental start date: 50% of total hire charge.
Less than 14 days before the rental start date: 100% of total hire charge.

13. Collection & Return
a) Collection
The van will be available from 12 noon on the Saturday of the holiday or at a date and time specified in the rental agreement. Please allow one hour to complete paperwork and for the vehicle hand over and demonstration.
b) Return
The vehicle must be returned before 4pm on the Friday or at a date and time specified on the rental agreement. The vehicle must be returned clean and in the same condition as it was collected. A charge of £50.00 will be made for cleaning should this not be the case.

14. Variation of Terms
Escape Campers reserves the right to vary these conditions of hire at any time.
Including but not limited to
Withdrawal of Hire, and full refund.
Offer of replacement vehicle in event of business needs.


N.B. Late returns
If you are late please advise us immediately by calling or texting 07734 104430. Failure to advise us may result in driving uninsured. You will also be delaying the start of someone else's holiday! A charge equivalent to one day's rental will be payable for all late returns.
